17/30, being Proactive Girl (and something dripped on my head.)

I woke up in one of those weird, emotional, everything-feels-overwhelming, I'm-not-happy-with-my-life moods. It's definitely hormones/lack of chocolate, plus an underlying hatred of my general laziness, but still. Not nice.
Usually I use these days as an excuse to curl up on the couch with The Office and a cup of coffee and waste away my evening.

Not today.
Proactive Girl, thy name is Lindsay. (but in the I'm-actively-controlling-my-angst way, not the I'm-using-Proactiv-to-clear-my-acne way . . . )
I did some yoga after work, paid my bills, cleaned my room, and made a to-do list. I got rid of all that nasty nagging going on in my head by actually doing something about it.

And I still have two whole hours of free time to prepare for my first rehearsal (HOORAY!) tonight, and take care of some bloggy business.

Monday madness, be gone, I say!

I know I'm pretty behind on the 30x30, but stick with me! I've got tons of remixes up my sleeve. Literally.

Also, I have a surprise for you tomorrow. Can you stand the suspense?!

Lindsay

I saw this in the city this week. It made me smile.

I'm cuddled on the couch with my brother napping next to me, and I'm feeling the family love.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Gratitude

--See those people up there? They're pretty awesome. Mostly because they're related to me, but also because they're just really cool.

--I don't know if I've mentioned this lately, but my boyfriend is so fun to be with. Especially when we have ridiculous fights about cooking pancakes and see great theatre together.

--my best friend, Amy Love! Who I get to see this weekend and who makes me feel so loved by being so excited every time I come home!

--King Lear. What a moving, incredibly human performance. It's definitely in my top 5 of "greatest acting moments ever." What a great way to get me excited for my upcoming rehearsals!

--Modern Family. 'Nuff said.

--The fantastic group of people I met today at the Children's Hospital. I saw a live taping of their interactive kid's show, and it's such a cool thing that they do for those kids. I'm hoping to be more involved with it soon!

It's a shorter list this week, but it's packed full of wonderfulness!
Happy weekend, folks.

Love,
Lindsay

16/30, I have a coffee problem, and I'm wearing lots of maroon.

Too much maroon? Just enough? I couldn't decide. But I liked it, so . . . the end.

Remember the exciting day I promised? Well the highlight of my day today was buying a new canister of coffee. Sorry to disappoint.
But I'm not lying when I call that a "highlight." I love having a new container of coffee. I am so looking forward to cracking that baby open tomorrow morning and taking a big whiff.
The first week is just the best - when you open it up and smell all that goodness wafting out. And it's all full and ready to brew and stir and enjoy.

The last week of a canister is a little depressing. Scraping the bottom as you scoop it into the filter, sticking your head halfway in to really get at the smell . . .
What? You don't do that?

15/30, my glamorous life and a remix recap

I'm having an intense kind of writer's block. Like the kind where you sit and stare blankly at the screen, thinking with all your might, and . . . nothing.

Zach is currently giving me suggestions instead of writing a paper.
"You could . . . write about how you burned yourself on your oatmeal." (It's true. I did.)
"You could write about what you did at work today." (Folded sweaters. Life changing.)
"You could write about how I hate this paper because I can't snuggle."(Precious.)
"You could write about the squirrels." (Been there. Done that. Yesterday.)

He gave up.

I'm sorry my life is so terribly interesting. You guys must be so envious.

14/30, a milestone, plus a night at the theatre

We went to the Guthrie last night and saw probably one of the most epic pieces of theatre . . . ever. Of course, we only saw a screening of it because it's currently running in London, but still. Epic. Derek Jacobi as the lead role in the Donmar's production of King Lear. It was pretty brilliant.
And when I say "brilliant," I mean "genius, amazing, astounding, moving, mega-awesome . . . " etc.

It's my 50th post! Aren't you excited?! I should have made you cupcakes. Of course, I would have had to eat them all for you . . .
On second thought, I'll go make you some right now. You know . . . in honor of the blog. And my hunger.

I like this blogging thing. I think I'll stick with it.

Especially if there are cupcakes involved in every milestone.

13/30, My weekend: pancakes, incense, and Lost. Oh yeah, and snow.

We had a pancake feast last night, and I'm going to tell you about it. We made peanut butter pancakes, topped them off with ice cream and fruit, and had a Lost (oh, Charlie, how I missed you!) marathon (thanks, Stephanie!). It was more like dessert than dinner, and I am not ashamed in the least.

We also toured some apartments this weekend, and one of the residents was burning incense of some sort. We were in the there less than 2 minutes, and now our entire apartment smells like it. I feel like I need to deep clean the carpet and throw out our coats.
Which would be irresponsible, considering it's Snowmaggedon outside again.
Thanks, Midwest! I love you . . . really . . . I do.

AWKWARD OUTTAKE OF THE DAY:
White Shirt: friend's closet  Cardigan, Pants: Ann Taylor  Scarf: H&M  Belt: thrifted  Boots: TJ Maxx

Do you need a laugh to start your Monday off right? Here. You're very welcome.

Weekly Gratitude

It's been a wonderful week. Here are some of the things that made it wonderful!

--this heavenly weather. I know it's just a tease, but I saw real live grass today! And jumped in a puddle! It's beginning to look a lot like spring, people.

--my upcoming rehearsals for Antigone. It's so refreshing and invigorating to be doing script work again.

--my beautiful girlfriends with whom I got to catch up this week, and the amazing opportunities that are being given to them! They've all landed some pretty spectacular jobs recently, and I'm so happy for them!

--10 for $10 Chapstick at Rainbow. I saved $3.50, and I'm stocked up for a good few weeks now. Kidding. Months. I hope.

--this note I found in my journal yesterday. When did I write this? I can't know. But it's damn good advice.

--phone conversations with my family on my walks to and from work.

--some really fun conversations with my co-workers! We had some truly hilarious exchanges this week.

--real live Valentines! In the mail! From my best friend! I luf you, Love.

I hope your week was as delightful as mine, and I wish you the most splendid of weekends!

Love,
Lindsay

12/30, I'm in a cave.

Last night, I called our internet provider because our uber-cheap six-month promotion had ended. The woman told me she could either give me a $10 discount for another six months, OR I could add on basic TV and get $20 off for six months.
Seriously? What kind of backwards baloney is that?
I took it. Obviously.

So . . . if we wanted to drag the TV out of the closet and hook it up, we could watch The Office live! Instead of on the internet the next day!

AWKWARD OUTTAKE OF THE DAY:
Red Sweater: Target  Scarf: gift from my momma  Jeans: Ann Taylor  Shoes: Charlotte Russe  Cave: c/o the University of Minnesota

The TV will probably stay in the closet. But it's nice to have the option.

Lindsay

P.S. See you tomorrow for my Weekly Gratitude!

11/30, holy crapola it's beautiful outside

My windows are open. The breeze is iiiiiiincredible. I wore my big puffer coat to walk to work today, and I just felt silly. Here in Minnesota, 45 degrees means beach time. Time to go get my tan on.

I have to make a confession. I bought a pair of pants at work today. And then I wore them for 20 minutes, realized they were too big, and had to return them. So it doesn't count! But I still felt guilty, so there. Dole me out a penance.

Is it too early in the 30x30 to be frustrated? I want to wear my other clothes! They miss me, I can tell! Their cries at night are too much to bear.
Ok, I'm exaggerating. I'll get over it. On the bright side, I really am getting some insight into the pieces I NEED, as opposed to things I WANT.
Which is the point.

AWKWARD OUTTAKE OF THE DAY:
Navy Cardi: thrifted  Dress (worn as top), Skirt: Ann Taylor  Belt: thrifted  Tights: Marshall's  Shoes: Famous Footwear
I'm off to conduct a cornbread experiment. Hopefully I can report back with a smile.

Lindsay
