Oh hi . . . well, this is awkward . . .

Um, it's been forever. More like two months, but in Blog Land, that's forever. Is anyone still there? Life has been crazy, busy, and awesome these past couple of months, and my blog kind of fell to the wayside and stayed there, sad and lonely.
Here are some things I did while I was away.

I moved to a new place . . . and I have no pictures of it. But I've given quite a few Skype tours, so I'm a pro.

I started taking the train to work. And I bought a polka-dotted umbrella at Tarjay.

Saw one of my most favorite bands, Shoeless Revolution, at a bar near our new apartment.

Took ridiculous pictures with Zach, as per usual.

Ate Pigs in a Blanket for the time since . . . oh I don't know, age 10. Muchas gracias, Perkins.

Road-tripped to good old La Crosse, where we binged on Buzzard Eggs, Pepperjack Bites, and Ruby Red martinis,

Saw beautiful Angel Friends,

And witnessed a bizarre bird that would not leave.

Checked out some creepy dolls with my sister.

Meet Ben Linus and Hurley, the newest additions to our apartment.

Cardboard cutout of my brother. Because . . . of course there is.

We got gussied up for my cousin's wedding in Chicago.

Check out their rockin' venue here.

And danced so much I wanted to puke. Boy did that Twist take a lot out of me.

The man shaved his head.

We had a date night complete with our usual bacon-wrapped treats. (Please disregard the pile of garbage and empty cereal box. Some elves left them in the middle of the night and never came back for them.)

I rehearsed for, opened, performed, and closed another show with an incredible cast of people.

My stud of a brother graduated. He's all growed-up.

My bff and I had a farmer's market, fondue, and Gilmore Girl-filled day of fun and luf.

Oh yeah, and we discovered and vanquished a mouse in our kitchen, all within the past 36 hours. With a lot of screaming, tip-toeing, and weird Google searches in between.

I hope life has been sweet for you all. I continue to be the happy sort of busy, so posts will still be infrequent, but . . . it's nice to be back.

Happy weekend!

Love,
Lindsay

thought for the day

I'm sorry I've been so absent on the blog lately! Life is a little hectic right now, both physically and emotionally.
I got this birthday card yesterday from my wonderful aunt, and it totally sums up what I rediscovered this weekend. I took a long weekend trip to my college town and spent every day with people I love, who truly know me. It was exactly what I needed.

And now . . . we move! We're moving to a new apartment this weekend, so I regret to say I'll be absent a bit longer. Please bear with me!

An incredibly thorough and professional summary of my week

Here is one of the few actual photos I have from this week:

I've been gone so long! It feels like years. This week has been crazy, but not all that photo-worthy. Unless you'd like to see an x-ray of my wisdom teeth.

In order to make up for my absence, and to catch you all up on my life, I've used my talents to create this masterpiece below. I really think it speaks for itself.

THURSDAY:
Go to work, bask in the praise of new haircut, draw incredible pictures for blog post. Eat more ice cream. Possible frolic outdoors.

Happy Thursday!

Love,
Lindsay

P.S. Definitely just realized I spelled "birthday" wrong. I'll blame it on the ice cream.

Oh hi! I'm older now!

Well, hello, friends. It's my birthday. And what a glorious birthday it is. Do I sound older? I feel older. I thought I saw a gray hair this morning. Time to move to Florida, methinks.

And no, I've never heard the joke about my dad thinking my mom was fooling him when she went into labor. How clever of you to think of that!

Oh yeah, happy April Fool's Day too. I've never been big on the fooling, because really, the awesomeness of my birthday usually consumes my day. It's no different this year.

And here, just to prove that I've always been destined to pose in cute outfits in front of brick walls:

I like stories like this.

MOSCOW – Nearly a quarter-century after a German boy tossed a message in a bottle off a ship in the Baltic Sea, he's received an answer.

A 13-year-old Russian, Daniil Korotkikh, was walking with his parents on a beach when he saw something glittering lying in the sand.

"I saw that bottle and it looked interesting," Korotkikh told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "It looked like a German beer bottle with a ceramic plug, and there was a message inside."

His father, who knows schoolboy German, translated the letter, carefully wrapped in cellophane and sealed by a medical bandage.

It said: "My name is Frank, and I'm five years old. My dad and I are traveling on a ship to Denmark. If you find this letter, please write back to me, and I will write back to you."

The letter, dated 1987, included an address in the town of Coesfeld. The boy in the letter, Frank Uesbeck, is now 29. His parents still live at the letter's address.

"At first I didn't believe it," Uesbeck told the AP about getting the response from Korotkikh. In fact, he barely remembered the trip at all; his father actually wrote the letter.

The Russian boy and the German man met each other earlier this month via an Internet video link.
Korotkikh showed Uesbeck the bottle where he found the message and the letter that he put in a frame.

The Russian boy said he does not believe that the bottle actually spent 24 years in the sea: "It would not have survived in the water all that time," he said. He believes it had been hidden under the sand where he found it — on the Curonian Spit, a 100-kilometer (60-mile) stretch of sand in Lithuania and Russia.

In the web chat earlier this month, Uesbek gave Korotkikh his new address to write to and promised to write back when he receives his letter.

"He'll definitely get another letter from me," the 29-year-old said.

Uesbeck was especially thrilled that he was able to have a positive impact on a life of a young person far away from Germany.

"It's really a wonderful story," he said. "And who knows? Perhaps one day we will actually be able to arrange a meeting in person."

5 things that made me laugh this weekend

really old picture alert!
1. My puppy-mama co-worker read this article and started full on crying halfway through. It took her ten minutes to realize it was The Onion.

2. Zach tried to teach me to juggle. It lasted all of two minutes. I don't have very good hand-eye coordination.

3. BSB Cruise. A tropical vacation with Brian Littrell? All of my inner twelve-year-old's dreams come true.

4. This kid is just so pleased with himself. Hilarious.

5. Zach impersonating an Italian chef as we unpacked groceries last night.

P.S. See that red-headed beauty up there next to me? (photo a la 2006) Well she and her boyfriend stink got engaged over the weekend! Congrats, Jillybean. There's not a better pair out there, and I'm over the moon happy for you guys!

Sarah Kay: If I should have a daughter . . .

This video was exactly what I needed to see today.

I had the day off today, and I was actually really bored. Surprisingly nothing on my to-do list.
Zach said, "Write a book."
I said, "Yeah. But I don't have any interesting ideas."

I've said that countless times when trying to write or create something, may it be a poem, a performance, or a blog post. Of course I have interesting things to say. We all do.

Three hours later, I found this video. I feel interesting again : )

[insert exciting post title here]

I have a productive day planned, and none of it involves leaving the apartment. I will not acknowledge this snow. I will ignore it until it goes away.

Ok. Due to my productive day, I gave myself a time limit to write this post. I just wasted it staring at the screen. I can't believe the weather is the most exciting thing in my life today. Maybe later I'll regale you with my bathroom cleaning experience and how I braved the snow to take the garbage out.

time for a little link love

Postsecret
Here are some internet gems I'm loving on this rainy Tuesday.

The Pioneer Woman's lovely little post about her kitty. I love me some pet love.

These shoes. Such a fine line between need and want.

Do you guys know about these folks? They make me smile every day.

Take a trip down memory lane with Nick Pitera's One-Man Disney Movie. And then check out the rest of his stuff. Holy talent, Batman.

If this video doesn't make you want to pack your suitcase and take the red-eye to Europe, I don't know what will.

Happy surfing!

Lindsay

See that? That's a spring jacket.

It feels like I talk about the weather quite a bit on this blog. I guess it's just the easiest thing to talk about when you have nothing to say. And also I am just SO. SICK. of winter. Hi, Winter! You've overstayed your welcome. Please come back next year.
But it's officially spring now. Which means I can officially wear my new spring jacket, even if the temperature tells me I still need my fleece-lined numbers. I defy you, temperature!

We're pretty sure Nigel and Rupert are no more. And possibly Winston. There are some unrecognizable squirrels chillin' in their place lately, and no sign of our little friends. C'est la vie. I'll just keep thinking they ventured down to the ground once the snow started melting and found a better home. Or a squirrely hatch full of acorns and a save-the-world button to push.

I've been watching too much Lost.

AWKWARD OUTTAKE OF THE DAY:
Jacket: H&M  Top: um...?  Jeans: Ann Taylor  Shoes: I think Kohl's?  Necklaces: F21
It's Mmmmmmonday! Hope you had your wheaties!

Lindsay
